Things to do For venturing beyond our farm may we suggest a visit to the lovely little seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh, to Snape, home of the Aldburgh Festival and much more, or to Framlingham or Orford. English Heritage care for the castles at Framlingham and Orford and during the summer put on some excellent theatrical productions. There are river trips to Orford, Snape and Woodbridge which can be great fun and this lends itself to cycling and walking. Dunwich - the lost city of Yore - is the perfect antidote to today's stresses and strains. You may wander over the farm and through the lanes beyond - we can organise a route for you if you like - or arrange cycle hire. The farm is a very short distance from the RSPB Minsmere reserve - we even have our own barn owls and kingfisher. For Supplies may we suggest the following: Emmetts in Peasenhall are specialist grocers with all sorts of lovely, different, things to eat, including the most wonderful chocolate. I buy my bread there, which is made in Saxmundham and I think is very good, but they also have unusual breads some days in the week. It is certainly a gourmets delight. Well worth a visit! J.R. Creasey, Butcher, Peasenhall - wonderful meat, barbecue packs, frozen meals from Pasenhall Pantry, cooked meats, eggs, a super selection of cheeses and delicious olives. People come from miles around to buy their meat here and, unless you're a vegetarian, it is well worth a visit too. They now sell local 'Marybelle' milk, cream and scrumptious ice cream, taste the difference! Peasenhall Post Office - General grocer and papers, post cards, tourist information, video hire, alcohol. They also sell Marybelle milk and cream and are open long hours. If you have used this shop on previous visits you'll notice a great improvement with its new owners. Horners, Yoxford - good general grocer, video hire, alcohol, open 7am-9pm Monday to Saturday, slightly less on Sundays. Yoxford Post Office - delicatessen and health food, specialist breads, the most wonderful doughnuts on certain days!!! PLACES TO EAT PUBS RESTAURANTS We are featured on: www.thecyclepeople.com |
